Like most people, you’ve probably been stuck at home for a few weeks now and are chomping at the bit to get back to work. But whilst we’re all still staying inside for the greater good, you can get to work on growing and developing your business – all from your living room! So, if you want to get back to it, have a read of our tips below.
Update your website
When you’re hard at work all day, we know that updating your website falls right to the bottom of the list of things you need to do, but now is the perfect time to update the information, upload some case studies and make your shop window look as good as it could be. In fact, we wrote a guide on how to do this which you can find, here.
Finally sort out social media
Similarly to your website, social media often seems like a big job at the end of a working day but if you invest a little bit of time now, you can have a top-notch social media presence once the lockdown ends. For more advice on how to make the most of your social media, read our blog post, here.
Get your reviews in order
It’s not just you that’s stuck inside, all of your previous customers are too which makes now the perfect time to contact them and ask for reviews. You can upload these onto your website and social media so when the lockdown ends, you’re well-armed with a bank of testimonials from previous customers.
Learn a new skill
Always wanted to create a flyer for your business but not sure where to start? Think your logo looks a bit dated? Still sort out your books with a pen and paper? Use this time to jump in with both feet and learn a new skill! You can create a new website, become an expert in Microsoft excel or design a whole range of marketing equipment and be fully prepared once we can enter the world of work again. Canva is a great free of charge tool for beginners that want to dabble in design so have a look whilst we have the time and see what you can create!
If you want to brush up on the latest products and modern application methods then now is the best time to do this. Some manufacturers are offering online training that may be of interest and CFS, which is distributed by Carpet & Flooring, is sending out product samples to allow you to familiarise yourself with the products themselves. They’re also a great sales tool for when you can get in front of your customers again!
Maybe you’ve just set up your own business, or want to in the future but you’re worried you don’t know enough about business management? Fear not, the Open University has a wealth of free courses that will help you get your head around the basics of owning a business. From business accounting to entrepreneurship, you can leave lock down sounding like the next Alan Sugar!
